Are Globalia Hurricane Screens approved and certified by the competent authorities?
Yes. All our products are certified and have been reviewed according to the Codes and Standards of the FLORIDA BUILDING COMMISSION and approved for use in HIGH VELOCITY HURRICANE ZONES (HVHZ) in Miami-Dade and Broward Counties.
Do they have the Miami-Dade NOA?
Products such as ours approved for use in HVHZ do not need a Miami-Dade NOA (Notice of Acceptance), but even so, we have NOA#04-413.04. Miami-Dade and Broward Counties are HVHZ counties. Source: Miami-Dade County Legislative Entry, approved 7/10/2001, File Number: 011990.
What is the nominal wind speed that the Globalia Hurricane Screens resist?
This is a simple and easy question, but the answer is difficult. All hurricane protection products are designed on the base of pressure and there is no direct correlation between wind speed and pressure because many variables are involved. However, given that our products are approved for use within the HVHZ, they have successfully demonstrated their capacity to withstand pressures equal to 76 psf or winds of up to 150 miles per hour.
Do Globalia Hurricane Screens also resist the impact of debris?
Yes, even of large objects.
What is the maximum size hurricane screen Globalia can install?
They can be as wide or as long as you like, as long as the technical area is involved with specific engineering applications for the area.
How far do the screens need to be from window panes?
If the structure is outside the HVHZ (Miami-Dade and Broward Counties), the authorities do not require a minimum distance from the window. This is because the purpose of the screen is to protect the opening and not necessarily the glass. If heavy flying debris hits the glass hard enough, the glass behind the screen might break, but since the opening is still covered your house is still protected from water and pressurization. In other words, if a window was hit hard enough, the glass could break but the opening would still be sealed and nothing would get through.
If the property in within the HVHZ, a minimum of 1" is required between the screen and the glass and maximum tensing of the screen is also required. This is not a problem for most yards.
How do you anchor Globalia Hurricane Screens?
The weave on our Globalia Hurricane Screens allows us to use almost any anchoring system and hardware approved by the "Florida Building Code".
Do I have to anchor the Globalia Hurricane Screens on all four sides?
The Florida Building Code does not require anchoring of all four sides. The screen does all its work in the direction of the load. However, if a client wants to anchor all four sides of the screen, it’s easy to add some fasteners.
What material is the Globalia Hurricane Screen made of and how long does it last?
Our hurricane screens are made of a highly resistant, polypropylene woven mesh with ll.5, 13 and 15 millimeter threads (the industry standard is 11.5, but special orders in limited colors can be made with even more resistant threads.) All materials are classified for outdoor use and with care and appropriate use can last a lifetime. All metal components are non-corroding (stainless steel).
Do Globalia Hurricane Screens contain Kevlar?
No. UV rays quickly degrade Kevlar, so it is not good for long-term, outdoor use. Source: DuPont KEVLAR Technical Guide on Aramid fiber.

Can I buy Globalia Hurricane Screens in different colors?
Yes. WE offer hurricane screens in a variety of colors: black, white, black/brown, white/brown, white/black, black/green, black/blue and black/purple.
What happens if a screen is damaged?
We maintain a complete, fully detailed database of the work we produce. If one of our screens is damaged, with the order number we simply search in our database for the exact measurements of the screen and then produce a replacement.
Where do your products come from?
Globalia Hurricane Screens are manufactured in the Untied States and the installation hardware (lead screw shields, screws, buckles, eyelets and eyebolts) are made by suppliers under the strictest supervision.
How long will it take to deliver of my Globalia Hurricane Screens?
That depends on the size and complexity of the order, but normally it takes us two weeks as of the date production begins.
